Carole Demesmin is Oprah in Music
For over 30 years, Carole Demesmin has been the voice that early in the morning has been saluting the Haitian communities, keeping them alive throughout the day, and helping them falling asleep at night.
Her style of music is deeply embedded within the Haitian cultural roots, her lectures about the Haitian history are inspirational and motivating, and her road to international success is an immaculate example that other Haitian artists have been emulating to at least hope to reach the horizons that thus far no other Haitian artists have been able to reach.
And after she left the mother land (Haiti) to go deepen and hip her roots to a diversely cultural audience; no artist could have filled the void that she left. That is the reason she has been making it her obligation to travel to Haiti at least twice a year to do whatever she does best; using her talents to distance herself from the flock of wannabe artists who always reach out to her for advice, tips, and lectures.
Carole penetrates the international scene of entertainment by heavy storms and strong winds taking with her prizes, reviews, and a solid reputation and she does all this with Haiti in her mind. Her various stage performances meshed with TV screen and radio appearances give her the title of "The Ambassador of the Haitian Music." Still to date, even through tough and tumultuous times, she proudly represents her country.
Carole Demesmin’s work becomes paints a picture of the past, provides a testimony an imprint in today's society, and makes a projection on what the future of Haiti should be like. Through her songs; she earns part of everyone's lives and her name is on every body’s lips. Her theme songs weave through the messages of inspiration, hope, patriotism, and the power of positive thinking.
Carole Demesmin needs more that a party to render homage to her or to commemorate her 30 years on stages; the Ministeres de la Culture and the Education Nationale should gather all her works to place them into an anthology as an element of the Haitian literature so this generation and other generations to come can know there is or there was a woman who surely knows how to use her God giving talents to grab a seat in the book of great artists.
She has done for Haiti what Oprah has done for the African Americans in America.
